My Story
Mermaid Crossing was originally founded by James “Eldo” Hartz, but I took it over as sole proprietor in 2024. I grew up moving all over the country. My father was an educator, and I followed in his footsteps, helping traumatised and special needs children in Canton, Georgia. When my daughter began looking at different colleges, we went to Armstrong for a tour whilst staying on Tybee. I instantly felt comfortable and at home. My daughter went to Armstrong, and I moved to Tybee. In a serendipitous moment, I was was walking on Tybrisa Street one day, met Eldo at his shop and began talking. Three hours later, I had a new job. I envisaged a place where local artists could come together in a collective community, with peace, love and harmony.
